Waste in procedures : The header section
Through my decades of auditing and consulting, I noted some 25-plus waste categories in procedures. Here they are! In the following part of the course, I will explain why I believe all these categories are waste. I have divided this long list into sections to help you navigate it.

Waste in procedures : Document sections
In this section, we will review typical duplications and waste within the body of a procedure. These deficiencies always come from poorly designed procedure templates. For example, the procedure we analyzed in the previous part of the course for waste in the header also has a table of contents or a list of sections in the procedure. Well, if the template requires an Objective or Purpose, Responsibilities, and others, writing our procedure, we will follow the template. The problem is that most of these sections invite duplications and inconsistencies. Let’s look at them one by one.
